Leicester City have been relegated from the Premier League for the second time in three seasons following a 0-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
With the victory, Liverpool are now one win away from sealing the Premier League title.
Substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold secured the 1-0 victory at Leicester City, which condemned the hosts to relegation on Sunday.
Leicester, needing to beat the leaders to stave off relegation for a few more days, were holding their own but Alexander-Arnold fired home in the 76th minute after the ball came to him following a goalmouth scramble.
Liverpool could have wrapped up a record-equalling 20th English top-flight crown had Ipswich Town beaten Arsenal earlier, but it remained a formality and they could be confirmed as champions if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
It has been an excruciating, doomed campaign for Leicester as it was beset by poor recruitment, legal rows, board protests and gambling with untested manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
After 23 defeats, including a tortuous record-breaking nine home games without scoring, Leicester returned to the Championship facing an uncertain future.
Van Nistelrooy will now set for crunch talks over his future next week as Leicester’s players face pay cuts of a minimum 35 per cent.
Last season’s Championship winners, Leicester were always likely to face a tough season but this latest relegation feels self-inflicted.
