The Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO) has honoured six retirees and a former Director of Finance and Accounts (DFA) at a special send-off and appreciation ceremony held in Abuja.

The event, which took place in the MCO conference room, saw colleagues gather to celebrate the retirees’ significant contributions to the agency. In his opening remarks, the director-general of the NMCO, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom commended the retirees for their unwavering commitment to the MCO’s growth and excellence.

He highlighted their professionalism, dedication, and proactive approach in carrying out their duties over the years, which significantly enhanced the agency’s operations and achievements. Nkom acknowledged that their hard work had left an indelible mark on the office, helping to promote the agency’s mandate.

“Though they may have retired, their legacy remains integral to the foundation and continued success of the MCO,” Nkom said. “They have set a high standard for us all, and their expertise will continue to be of value to us whenever needed.”

According to Okeke G. Amara. O, Head of Press at the MCO, Nkom, also assured the retirees that they remain an essential part of the MCO family despite their departure from active service, and that the agency would always welcome their experience and guidance.

Retirement, he noted, is not an end but a new chapter filled with opportunities for the retirees to continue contributing to their families and to society.

Throughout the event, various members of the management staff shared their thoughts, commending the retirees for their professionalism and commitment. They encouraged the retirees to continue living by the values they upheld while at the MCO and to maintain a close relationship with their faith.

He offered words of encouragement to current staff, urging them to remain dedicated to their work, as their contributions would one day be recognised and celebrated.

Mr Jacob Olufemi Ayinshola, former DFA at the MCO and now serving as DFA at the Ministry of Works, also took a moment to thank the Director-General for his encouragement during his career, which ultimately led to his promotion. He praised the retirees for their dedication and expressed confidence that they would continue to play meaningful roles in their communities.

During the ceremony, certificates and plaques recognising integrity in service were presented to the retirees and the former DFA.
