Nigerian music sensation, Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly called Odumodublvck, has won the coveted ‘Next Rated Artist’ award at the Headies held on Sunday night at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.
The award was presented by Davido, who visibly was excited and proud, shared a heartfelt message before announcing the winner.
“I won this award about 12 years ago,” he said. “But I know the hard work and dedication it took for me to get here — and una live me die! So I’m here to present the Next Rated award, probably the most important award in this category.”
When Odumodublvck was announced, the crowd erupted into cheers. Walking onto the stage with his mother by his side, Odumodu Blvck gave a deeply moving acceptance speech.
“First of all, I want to give thanks to my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ,” he began. “I want to thank my Mummy. My mummy gave birth to me at the age of 39 when there was no hope. I’m her only child. I’m a covenant child.”
He continued, sharing the spiritual roots of his journey, “Before my mother gave birth to me, she told God that ‘if You give me a child, I’ll become a pastor’. It is for that reason that I’m here.”
The Headies Awards, known for celebrating excellence in the Nigerian music industry, returned to Nigeria this year after two consecutive editions in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2025 ceremony featured 31 categories, including ‘Artiste of the Year,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ and ‘Next Rated,’ highlighting the diversity and talent within the industry.
