African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, has said the Independent National Electoral Commission must outsmart the politicians to ensure the success of the 2023 general election.
Onuoha stated this in his office yesterday during an interaction with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abia State council in Umuahia the state capital.
He said he was delighted with the improvements recorded by the commission following the introduction of the new electoral law, saying without it people like him would not have joined partisan politics.
The governorship candidate expressed worry over reports that some people were yet to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards from the commission, “and cases where some have been denied their cards because they belong to the opposition.”
“The commission must remain apolitical to justify the confidence reposed on it. Furthermore, those affected must cry out now before it is late,” said the president of Vision Africa International.
