President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for his inclusion of youths in the delivery of his people-oriented policies.

The president was also applauded for his widespread infrastructural development and merit-based appointments.

In a reaction to the president’s inclusion of Ambassador Solomon Adodo, the president of the National Youth Council (NYCN) as a member of the board of the North Central Development Commission, the managing director and chief executive officer (MD/CEO) of Somi Solar and Electricals Limited, Mr Samson Okpe, said it was another demonstration that Tinubu always prioritises merit over mediocrity.

While congratulating Adodo on the appointment, Okpe noted that the appointee had been a vibrant grassroots mobiliser and an avid commentator on national discourse.

Okpe also praised him for his nonviolent approach to policy reforms and ability to mobilise Nigerian youths to promote government policies, even at the expense of his comfort.

He said that with this appointment, Tinubu has once again shown that his government is inclusive and that he has the interest of Nigerian youths at heart.

He said, “It is safe to say that this is a youth-oriented administration and indeed the future of Nigerian youths is assured.”

The firm’s chief noted that under the current administration, youths are no longer the leaders of tomorrow; they are already leading and are strategically represented in ministries, departments, parastatals and commissions.

With the appointment of Adodo, the president has ended the age-long policy of recycling the old generation into leadership positions.

In a statement he issued in Abuja yesterday, Okpe said, “In recognising the tireless efforts of Amb. Adodo in the civil society space, his obsession with the empowerment of Nigerian youths and the promotion of good governance through policy reforms and strategic interventions, Mr President has made a bold statement that sacrifice, patriotism and dedication will never go unrewarded.”

Therefore, he charged Nigerian youths to continue to support the present administration for its sincere commitment to youth empowerment and shun politicians who are desperate for power and use blackmail as their weapon of choice.
