Speaking shortly after his election, Awoshiri said his tenure would be guided by the association’s motto, “That they all may be one” (John 17:21).
He stressed that unity among Christians and collaboration with other faiths were key to fostering peace and progress in the state.

“There can be no peace without unity, and no development without justice,” he said. “My administration will work with likeminds from all faiths to promote peace, justice, and development in Taraba.

“When we unite the Christian faith, we can be able to expand the gospel to non-Christians and bring more people to Christ,” he added.

The election, which was conducted peacefully in Jalingo, was supervised by the CAN National President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh who was represented by Rev. (Dr.) Mrs. Uzoaku Williams.

Awoshiri, a Catholic priest and academic, also promised to lead with openness and inclusivity, building bridges across denominational and interfaith lines.
