Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, who represents Niger North Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, has fulfilled his ₦20 million pledge to victims of the recent rainstorm that ravaged Ibeto Town in Magama local government area of Niger State.
The natural disaster, which struck weeks ago, destroyed homes, displaced families, and disrupted livelihoods across the community. In response, Senator Sani Bello had pledged financial assistance to support recovery efforts.
According to a statement by the media adviser to Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, on Saturday, the promised ₦20 million relief fund was officially delivered to the Ibeto community by a delegation of the senator’s aides, including Legislative Aide I, Comrade Mohammed Sani Yahya, and Personal Assistant, Alhaji Ali Kira.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, Alhaji Kira conveyed his principal’s deep sympathies and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
“Although the Senator was on an official assignment abroad when the disaster occurred, he immediately instructed us to deliver his condolences to the people of Ibeto,” Kira said. “Upon his return, he made it clear that the disbursement of the ₦20 million must be carried out without delay to help the affected families begin rebuilding their lives.”
The cash donation was received by the Madawaki of Ibeto on behalf of the District Head and the victims. He expressed gratitude for the Senator’s prompt and compassionate intervention, describing it as a mark of true leadership.
The fund will be administered in collaboration with local authorities and traditional leaders to ensure equitable distribution and transparency.
