Kaduna Electric has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with J-Marine Logistics Limited to provide 100MW of solar energy with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) within the KE franchise.

The chairman of Kaduna Electric, Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, said during the signing of the MoU in Kaduna that the initiative was a bold step in addressing the power supply challenges within their reach.

He added that the initiative laid a foundation for inclusive economic growth and development.

Suleiman said that the collaboration will produce cleaner energy, enhance a steady power supply, and increase industrial productivity.

He stressed that the initiative is targeted at industrial customers, adding that the focus will be on return investment or wherever the return of the investment is guaranteed.

According to him, the signing of the MoU is a defining moment in the collective journey towards a more sustainable and reliable energy within KEDCO’s franchise location of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna.

“The initiative targets our industrial customers. However, it’s not that we will not give residential, but our primary focus will be where we have the return on investment or guaranteed”.

Suleiman, however, commended J-Marine Logistics for sharing in their commitment to powering communities and transforming lives.

“The ceremony is our collective journey towards a more sustainable and reliable energy source within our franchise locations in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna States.

“Today marks the beginning of our journey to resolve to bring sustainable energy to every home, industry and institution within our reach”.

The Chairman of Jampur Group Dubai, Mohammed Shafiq, said his company will provide 100 megawatts of solar panels in Kaduna and neighbouring countries.

“We plan to provide 100 megawatts of solar panels in Kaduna and neighbouring countries. Once that is done, we will discuss electric meters, which we have already assembled in Nigeria.

“Simultaneously, we are discussing producing solar panels here in Kaduna, and their capacity could be up to 500 megawatts per year. That is our plan”.

“We can give as many metres as they need. They can need 100,000 or 500,000 metres per year. We will be able to produce”.

He further said that electricity metres would also be assembled to give KEDCO better control over consumer revenue collection.
