Adamawa State governor, Umaru Fintiri, has approved N8 billion to clear the backlog of gratuities owed state and local government retirees in the state.

Fintiri who had earlier released N5 billion for the state retirees equally announced N3 billion to offset the gratuities of local government retirees.

Speaking yesterday during the Bwatiye 2025 International Cultural Festival and Development Foundation Fundraising in Yola, the governor said the funds would be disbursed next month.

The governor congratulated the Bwatiye nation for successfully hosting the event themed “Culture and Development,” describing it as timely and significant for fostering unity among the Bwatiye people.
He appreciated the Bwatiye community for their unwavering support over the past six years and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting unity and peace across Adamawa State.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr Agbu Kefas, donated N15 million in a fundraising effort.

He described Adamawa and Taraba States as “twin sisters” that share many things in common.
