In a landmark event marking the sixth anniversary of his administration, the Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, hosted a town hall meeting on 29 May 2025 with citizens to promote inclusive governance and reflect on the journey so far.

Held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu, the Town Hall was conducted in Hausa to ensure broad participation and understanding.

The event, organised by Dr I.M. Yabani, Office of the Special Adviser on Radio, Television, and Digital Media, brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women’s groups, civil society organisations, and media members.

Governor Buni, in his opening remarks, expressed appreciation to the people of Yobe State for their continued trust and partnership in the shared mission of rebuilding and advancing the state.

He said, “These six years have been a collective journey. We have faced challenges, but together we have seized opportunities to transform our state in key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and infrastructure.”

The governor outlined significant achievements under his leadership, emphasising the administration’s unwavering commitment to people-centred development. He highlighted key investments in human capital, improved public services, and the empowerment of women and youth across the state.

A central feature of the Town Hall was an open interactive session where citizens and representatives of civil society, the media, and various communities posed direct questions to the governor.

Governor Buni responded to concerns with clarity and assurance during the event, reinforcing his administration’s transparency and responsiveness.

Participants praised the governor for his developmental strides and described his tenure as one marked by resilience, visionary leadership, and a strong commitment to the wellbeing of Yobe’s citizens.

Governor Buni equally unveiled The Yobe Journal, a special edition publication documenting the milestones of his six-year administration, with stories of growth, peacebuilding, and inclusive governance, during the event.

In his closing remarks, Governor Buni reaffirmed his dedication to leaving behind a lasting legacy of progress, unity, and good governance.

He called on all citizens to continue supporting government initiatives and to uphold peace and harmony as cornerstones of sustainable development.
