Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Opara emphasized the crucial responsibility of Political Advisers in steering the nation toward unity and ensuring a seamless political transition in 2027.
Opara, also the chief political adviser to Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, explained the importance of adopting a visionary leadership style over transactional politics.

“Political Advisers are the custodians of strategic decision-making and must prioritise the collective good over personal gains,” he said.

He urged Political Advisers to positively influence their principals by advocating for policies prioritising national interest and peacebuilding.

Opara underscored the need for Political Advisers to mediate during political tension.

“The role of Political Advisers extends beyond strategy formulation; they must actively engage in dialogue that bridges divides and resolves conflicts,” he added.

Opara commended NAFOPA for creating a platform that fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Political Advisers nationwide.

Reflecting on the upcoming general elections in 2027, Opara stressed the importance of Advisers in ensuring a peaceful and stable transition.

“Political Advisers are key to maintaining the integrity of our democratic processes by promoting transparency and accountability,” he stated.

He further called on political actors in the country to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in conducting free, fair, and credible elections in 2027.

The NAFOPA convener also warned against the dangers of transactional governance, which prioritises personal interests over public welfare.

He urged political advisers to challenge practices undermining good governance and called for a renewed commitment to ethical leadership.

“We must uphold the values of integrity, equity, and justice to strengthen citizens’ trust in their leaders,” he said.

Chief Opara advocated increased capacity-building programmes for Political Advisers to enhance their effectiveness.

He noted that ongoing training and exposure to global best practices would empower Advisers to handle complex governance challenges.

“A well-equipped Adviser is an asset to any administration,” he stated.

Chief Opara urged Political Advisers to remain steadfast in their duty to the nation.

“Our collective resolve to foster peace and stability will determine the future of Nigeria. We must rise above divisive politics and unite for the common good,” he stated.
