The Adamawa State deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has warned youths against getting involved in illicit drugs, asserting that it is dangerous and inimical to human survival.

Farauta gave the warning in Yola yesterday, at the retirement church service in honour of the state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr Samson Agbaolu Femi.
Farauta, who doubles as the State chairman of the Adamawa State Drug Control Committee, insisted that the government would leave no stone unturned in eradicating the menace of drug abuse.

She insisted on the need for a drug-free society for the younger generation, expressed gratitude for the officer’s service, and wished him well in future endeavours.

She said, “Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the Drug Control Committee to ensure zero tolerance for drug abuse in the state.”

She further remarked at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries church in Jambutu, “We must train our children to take over leadership from us as good citizens.”

Earlier in his remark, Mr Samson Femi, who was posted three times to the state, lauded the state government’s support in fighting drug abuse effectively.

He said the establishment of the drug control committee and the constitution of the Ngurore-Numan checkpoint have reduced cases of robbery and drug trafficking in the state.

He thanked the member of the state control committees for their support in curbing the menace of drug abuse in the state.
