The Mokwa community, recently ravaged by floods, is seeking help to prevent potential health challenges.

LEADERSHIP findings revealed that there were still bodies buried and washed to nearby bushes by the flood, that were not found yet, and the smells akin to stenches were getting stronger.

It was observed, however, that the people of the community and the emergency agencies were still searching, but the health implications of recent discoveries have raised concerns.

Consequently, the Ndalele of Mokwa (Traditional Leader), Alhaji Muhammed Aliyu, has sought immediate fumigation of the community to prevent potential disease outbreaks following the flood.

The Ndalele who spoke when the National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) paid a visit to his palace said there was an urgent need for fumigation because “decomposing bodies were scattered everywhere in the area”.

“If nothing urgent is done, it is capable of causing a major health disaster,” the Traditional Ruler declared

When Contacted, the Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba Arah, could not also be reached to ascertain the extent and profile of the expenditure of the donations received so far.
