Announcing the appointment, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Mr. Abdullahi Bardi, said Professor Oluwafemi was selected after a competitive process that spanned three months involving expert evaluations, public advertisement, and transparent interviews.

Professor Oluwafemi is the university’s former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and a former Head of Department at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Bardi expressed confidence in the new Vice Chancellor’s capacity to lead the university towards greater relevance in Nigeria’s blue economy ambitions.

He also extended the Council’s gratitude to the Presidency, Federal Ministry of Education, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and the National Assembly for their continued partnership and investment in the institution’s growth.
