Oyo State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects over the gruesome murder of a farmer and kidnap of two female adults at Ilero town in Kajola local government area of the state.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Johnson Adenola disclosed this during a visit to the affected community.

CP Adenola assured the residents that the two victims abducted by suspected kidnappers on Wednesday, 18th June, 2025 would soon regain freedom.

Accompanied by some senior officers of the Command on the visit, the CP said he was in Ilero to carry out necessary consultations and mediate with critical stakeholders in the zone, particularly the Ilero youths, to shelve the planned protest to avoid being hijacked by criminals.

Speaking at the meeting, the Elero of Ilero land, Oba Wasiu Oyedele, commended the Police and other security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace in the state.

However, he condemned the incessant attacks on farmers and destruction of crops by suspected herders, saying the indigenes were well accommodating to all tribes and would want all foreigners in the town to embrace peace.

Also lending their voices on the matter, representatives from Iwajowa and Kajola local government areas urged the Police and other security agencies to intensify efforts in rescuing the two female victims who were kidnapped while on duty at an gro-products shop in Ilero.

Meanwhile, the Seriki Fulani in the zone, Muhamud Yusuf, who expressed readiness of herders and other foreigners in the town to work with police and local vigilante groups to flush out the criminals from the town, said many of the attacks recorded in the area were being perpetrated by strange herders and other criminals, who did not reside in the host communities.
