“Firefighters responded after receiving an emergency call from a resident, Joseph Pitter. Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered a 37-year-old woman, Maryam Bita, who had fallen into a well,” Abdullahi said.

He added that the victim was successfully rescued alive and was promptly transported to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment.

He added that the victim was subsequently handed over to Police Constable Mu’azu Abdullahi of the Sabon Gari Police Division.

In a separate incident, Abdullahi said the Fire Service received a distress report from one of its personnel, SFS Sadi Gora, in Gora Village, Madobi local government area.

The team found 50-year-old Salisu Musa, who was reported to have been experiencing a spiritual possession episode locally known as “Aljanu.”

The statement explained that in one instance when the victim was possessed, he ran away, “which caused him to fall into a well, thereafter he started calling for help but no one came to assist him until our men went and rescued him unconscious.”

However, he added that the victim was later confirmed dead and his remains handed over to Inspector Nuhu Daniel of the Madobi Police Division.
