The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has urged the public to avoid its suspended members.

The national publicity secretary, SDP, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, in a statement released to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, disclosed that the National Working Committee (NWC) had approved the suspension of Alhaji Shehu Musa Gaba, Mr Clarkson Nnadi, and Mr. Ogbonna Uchechukwu over allegations of financial misappropriation, breaches of the party’s constitution, and misconduct.

He said that the decision to suspend the officials was made during a meeting on June 24, 2025, during which prima facie evidence of financial indiscipline and other infractions was reviewed.

Aiyenigba emphasised that the suspensions take immediate effect in line with the powers granted to the NWC by the party’s constitution. “The suspensions will remain in place pending the outcome of internal investigations by the party’s disciplinary committee and ongoing probes by law enforcement agencies.”

“The party has also informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the suspensions and warned the public, especially political stakeholders, against engaging in any form of transaction, alliance, or collaboration with the suspended members, as they no longer have the mandate to represent the party,” he said.

He explained that the decision to suspend the officials was endorsed by a majority of the NWC members, with signatures attached to the resolution.

He said, “SDP reiterated its commitment to transparency, discipline, and internal accountability; the decision was crucial to upholding the party’s integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
