Philanthropist and businessman Prince Tonye Princewill has been appointed chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association.
Other BoT members include Lt. General Chiadikobi King (rtd), Dr. Patterson Ogon, Hon. Anayo Nwonu, Mr. Samson Akpibere, Mr. Austin Okeze and Chief Victor Udobong.
The alumni association, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday at the end of its national executive council meeting, said the reconstitution of the BoT was in accordance with the association’s constitution.
The statement was signed by Senator Darlington Nwokocha and Phil Biobele Okoroafor, the association’s global president and secretary general, respectively.
The statement reads in part: “Arising from the 2025 National Convention and the inaugural meeting of the newly elected National Executive Council of the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:
“Whereas the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association is committed to strengthening its institutional framework and ensuring visionary leadership of IDs long term growth and sustainability;
“And whereas the need to reconstitute the Board of Trustees in accordance with the association’s constitution was duly considered;
“The following distinguished alumni have been nominated, contacted and confirmed to serve as members of the Board of Trustees of the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association for a tenure of four years.”
