Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA has disbursed over N38 million to 28 victims of 2024 fire incident in Minna.

The director general, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, disclosed the disbursement of cheques to some beneficiaries.

While extending Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s sympathy to the victims, he admonished members of the public to be conscious of handling electronic appliances when closing their shops or leaving their homes to avoid fire outbreaks.

He noted that the incidents occurred last year, 2024, at three different places, including Tunga locust, where many shops were razed on February 9, 2024; Maitumbi, where a house was gutted by fire, and the occupants lost their properties; and another in the Chanchaga area.

Baba Arah hinted that the governor’s magnanimous approval of the funds was a demonstration of his sympathy for the victims who lost their sources of income; however, he approved 25 percent of their total loss to the landlords and tenants rather than the inherited 10-15 percent in the past.
