FG To Honour 250 Top Nigerians At Independence Day

The federal government is set to honour 250 outstanding Nigerians across various sectors for their exceptional dedication, innovation and patriotism toward nation building as part of activities to mark the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the groundbreaking Compendium of 250 top performers in Nigeria to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary in collaboration with OyanaHealth Limited, the Secretary to the Government of The Federation, (SGF) Sen. George Akume, in a statement by the director information in his office, Segun Imohiosen, described the initiative as a historic and remarkable documentary aimed at celebrating the values of resilience, innovation and patriotism among Nigerians.

“This initiative presents a timely opportunity to reflect, project and celebrate the values of resilience, innovation, and those that define the Nigerian spirit,” he said.

SGF, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Overseeing General Services Office, Mallam Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, said that the production of the compendium will serve as the face of Nigeria’s immense human endowments.

Dr. Akume stressed that the project will feature the government’s key achievements and 11 top-performing State Governors. He added that it will also feature a quiz competition, patriotic songs of hope, innovative/creative exhibitions, and a music concert.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Engr Nadungu Gagare, FNAIE, stressed that the compendium will serve as a historic record and strategy for inspiring talents, promoting credible narratives about Nigeria, and recognising excellence in governance. He added that the compilation will document and celebrate Nigerians’ excellence at home and globally.

Speaking earlier, Jennifer Chinyelu Obiasor, the convener of the Compendium on 250 Top Nigerian Performers across the Globe and the CEO of OyanaHealth Ltd, stated that the project, aptly themed “Nigeria Celebrates,” will celebrate 250 outstanding Nigerians worldwide who are trailblazers in various fields, including medicine, business, sports, entertainment, technology, and diplomacy.
