Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, and younger brother to former governor Ayo Fayose, Otunba Emmanuel, has appealed to the party leaders not to judge him by his brother’s political actions in the party.

He said he joined the contest to promote unity in the PDP, correct perceived anomalies in governance and bring prosperity to Ekiti State.

The younger Fayose urged PDP members and leaders in the state to unite if they want to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 governorship election.

The ICT expert and Artificial Intelligence (AI) specialist stated this in Ado-EKiti and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Areas, during  a statewide grassroots familiarisation tour of the 16 local government areas of the state ahead of party primary election.

Speaking about his elder brother’s politics, he appealed to the party leaders not to judge him by the roles played by the ex-Ekiti governor in the party.

“We are two different persons. It is evidently clear that the same parents will always give birth to every twin in the world, but, I want to point out that their characters, manners and approach to issues are different. The two cannot act the same way and cannot have the same mindsets therefore, I should be judged for who I am and not for what my brother is,” he said.

He explained that he is  embarking on the tour of the councils to solicit the support of party leaders, executive members and supporters on his ambition and to clinch the party’s ticket in the governorship primary election in the state.

He also described the gale of endorsements for the re-election bid of Gov Biodun Oyebanji as  mere jamborees which cannot automatically translate to victory for the incumbent governor and APC in the forthcoming poll.

“Let us embrace unity and oneness. Let us shun anything that will divide us. Let’s go into the forthcoming election with one indivisible house. We need oneness to defeat this APC government and we will win by God’s grace,” he said.

Fayose, at Irepodun/Ifelodun local government where he hails from,  urged  the party leaders to support his ambition and ensure his victory at the party primary.

The PDP chairman in Ado-Ekiti Local Government, Hon. Femi Odeyemi, who presented Fayose to the people praised his courage to vie for the number one seat in the state.

“Let us support him to achieve this ambition. PDP will take over power in next year’s poll. Like you all know PDP is a party that remembers the masses. When we were in power, our government prioritised the welfare of the people. We were able to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people and Ekiti State and the people prospered under the PDP.”

Party chieftains and members present at the gathering in Ado-EKiti, are, Hon. Kayode Yusuf, Hon.(Mrs) Abeni Olayinka, Alhaji Raheem Adeparusi, Hon.(Mrs) Fali Arije, Hon. Musa Arogundade, Hon. Kayode Olamide, Women leaders among others.
