The acting executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, has toured the commission’s headquarters in Abuja to strengthen internal operations and enhance staff welfare.

The visit, which followed a meeting with directors at the commission’s boardroom, allowed the acting chairman to engage directly with personnel across various departments, gain first-hand insight into ongoing projects, and assess workplace conditions.

During the tour on Wednesday, which covered all offices in Blocks A and C of the headquarters, Oladele held brief sessions with directors and divisional heads. He used the opportunity to commend their contributions to service delivery while highlighting the need for improved efficiency and resource allocation.

He said, “It is important to ensure staff dedication and passion for their work every day. Therefore, it is my plan to provide the staff with the equipment, financial and material resources they need to do their work as well as support their daily needs to succeed.”

The acting chairman stressed the importance of operational efficiency, streamlined workflows, and a renewed commitment to institutional goals. He described staff welfare as central to the commission’s success and pledged sustained efforts to prioritise the well-being of personnel across all levels.

“I am happy with your level of commitment to operational excellence, which I believe is crucial to the achievement of our commission’s mandate,” he added.

A key highlight of the visit was his open engagement with staff across departments during which he listened to their concerns and assured them of management’s readiness to address critical challenges.

The acting executive chairman also emphasised the importance of staff welfare in achieving the commission’s mandate and fostering a positive work environment. He said, “This can only be possible if we build on the strength of staff and make their welfare paramount.”

In a related development, Hon. Oladele announced the immediate constitution of a committee to restructure the commission’s Monitoring and Enforcement Department. The initiative, he said, is aimed at repositioning the department for greater efficiency and improved oversight.

The facility tour is one of the chairman’s earliest engagements since assuming office. It underscored a leadership style anchored on accessibility, responsiveness, and a clear focus on staff motivation and institutional reform.
