Scores of Aba residents have continued to hail Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Julius Berger Plc for rehabilitating Port Harcourt Road in the city.

This is just as new and old residents and traders who had earlier vacated the federal road due to prolonged dilapidation are relocating in large numbers.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP, a commercial motorcyclist, Innocent Ibe, appreciated the governor’s selection of the construction giant for the project and its timely completion.

Similarly, Innocent, a.k.a. Fuji Kpokirikpo Nwa Aba, said that for over 28 years, the road users had been struggling without end while the previous administrations looked the other way.

“Now, our governor has done the road, and everywhere now looks like an express road. Take a look at the roundabout that has been put here”, he said.

‎They expressed delight that the job was not only executed perfectly but also led to the introduction of flood control mechanisms in and around the Uratta, Ohabiam, and Ndiegoro areas.

At the flag-off of the 6.7-kilometre N30bn project, which was executed within 18 months, Otti expressed sadness that the previous administration could not fix the road.

‎He regretted that the road, which connects the state with neighbouring Rivers, Bayelsa, and beyond, is dominated by business activities and has been abandoned.

Otti said he was glad that his administration was taking yet another strategic step in fulfilling one of his major campaign promises, noting that its completion would revive the abandoned businesses.
