They took the decision after a series of meeting with the governor and the council chairman.

Others were the commissioner for Market Development and Parks, Prof. Nwogo Obasi, chairman of Eto Akpoha Ruling Council, Prof. John Igidi and the leader of Afikpo Legislative Council, Mr. Joel Inya Egwu.

Addressing the leaders, Nwachi said the peace brokered between the two communities was anchored on the platform provided by the governor.

Nwachi said that he held a follow-up peace and security meeting with town union executives, opinion leaders, youths and other stakeholders from the two communities where they agreed to give peace a chance.

“It is of great joy that after our last meeting, the warring communities agreed to end any form of hostility because of the land dispute to give the government the enabling environment to resolve the feud,” he said.

Fifty representatives from each community are to be selected to work with the government to resolve the dispute and ensure an out-of-court settlement.
