The Adamawa police Command has begun investigation into the alleged shooting of a 35-year-old Ibrahim Usman, a resident of Mujara in Mubi South local government of Adamawa State by a stray bullet reportedly discharged by a patrol team of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement in Yola on Thursday, said police was investigating the tragic incident.
SP Nguroje said the incident occurred on July 16, 2025, at about 4pm. “Upon receipt of the distress call, officers from ADSU Gude Divisional Police headquarters, led by the DPO responded promptly.
“The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where he was later confirmed dead,” the PPRO disclosed.
Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris has notified relevant Customs authorities and directed operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to discreetly investigate the incident.
The Command assured members of the public that justice will be served, and the outcome of the investigation will be communicated in due course.
