The Federal Ministry of Environment has predicted that about eleven states are likely to experience flood disaster in the month July, 2025.

The ministry in an early warning circular signed by the Director Erosion, Flood & Coastal Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi, gave the prediction through its National Flood Early Warning Centre (FEWS Center) in Abuja.

Calling on relevant stakeholders and state government representatives on its platform to always give situational feedback, the ministry also drew their attention to taking precautionary measures to avert or mitigate the impact of flood disaster.

The circular stated that some local government in Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Borno as well as Bauchi, Plateau, Yobe and Katsina are likely to witness heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding between the 16 to 20 July, 2025.

Other states listed in the circular include Kano, Jigawa, Cross Rivers and Zamfara.
