Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has renamed the recently commissioned Shendam Road, after late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The newly constructed dual carriage way, was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu during his one-day visit to the state, late last month.
At the special prayer session organised in honour of the late president in Lafia, Governor Sule said renaming the strategic road was a way of immortalising the former Nigerian leader.
Govenor Sule added that his administration would send an Executive Bill for a legal backing changing the Shendam Road to Muhammadu Buhari Way.
He noted that the former president considered Nasarawa as his second home after Katsina, noting that it was imperative to reciprocate his love for the state.
Governor Sule appreciated President Tinubu for according maximum respect to his predecessor following his demise.
“We want to thank President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for the respect he accorded the former president. No Head of State, no president has received this unprecedented support during his burial like Muhammadu Buhari. We thank the President for sending the Vice President to London to escort the body back and to be on ground in Katsina to receive the body,” he said.
Speaking during the prayer session, the first civilian governor of the state and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, commended Governor Sule for the initiative to immortalise the former president.
“This effort to immortalise the president through these prayers, I am very sure that not only members of his immediate family, but all of us his admirers, his subjects when he was president, appreciate this and we praise the efforts of His Excellency, the Governor and our father, the Emir of Lafia for initiating this prayers in memory of our President, Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
