UNN Produces 167 First Class Graduates

A total of 167 students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) have received first class honours in various disciplines.

The acting  vice-chancellor of UNN, Prof. Oguejiofo Ujam, disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing on  the 54th convocation of the university.

He said a total of 9,821 students who have completed their academic programmes will be awarded first degrees and diplomas.

He stated that as a leading first-generation university, this 54th convocation ceremony offers them another unique milestone to recount their achievements, review their strategies and isolate the challenges on their path to academic excellence and human capacity building through scientific and sociological inquiry.

The UNN vice chancellor disclosed that the purpose of the press briefing was to give out valuable information about the 54th convocation ceremony, including the graduation statistics and the details of the key events of the convocation week.

He  also took advantage of the press briefing to present some of the developments that have taken place at the University of Nigeria since he has been in charge of affairs.

He averred that in  keeping with their tradition, the 54th Convocation Lecture is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Prof. Ujam   said the 54th convocation lecture of the university would be delivered by  Mr. Ukandu Eme Ukandu, the MD/CEO of Firstcap Limited and chairman of First City Monument Bank.

”Ukandu is a renowned leader in corporate and investment banking and the topic of his lecture is ‘Educated to Rise: From Struggle to Global Strength.’

This lecture promises to be an insightful and inspiring session for our graduating students and the entire university community. The lecture will be chaired by Chief (Dr) Akinnola Oladejo, the MD/CEO of Prestigious Homes, Ltd., Lagos.

“The ceremony for the award of first degrees and diplomas of the university will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025.

“Similarly, the award of higher degrees, postgraduate diplomas, honorary doctorate degrees and the title of Professor Emeritus would be bestowed on deserving recipients on Saturday, July 26th, 2025,” he stared.

He further announced that some  distinguished citizens would be conferred with the honorary doctorate degrees of the university.
