This was disclosed in Abuja yesterday by the president of the nation’s capital chapter of the council, Hajiya Hadiza Abdullahi Umar.

In a statement she issued, Umar said the event marks a critical democratic process to usher in a new leadership cadre that will be dedicated to championing the rights and development of women in FCT.
She said, “All eligible and interested candidates are hereby invited to obtain nomination forms directly from the NCWS office located at the election venue.”

Umar added that comprehensive election guidelines, eligibility requirements, and procedures are available upon request.

Founded in 1958, the NCWS has consistently championed the cause of Nigerian women, advocating for gender equity, social justice, and inclusive national development.

The NCWS FCT also encourages full participation from its members and stakeholders across the territory to ensure a credible and widely accepted electoral outcome.

The Election Committee emphasised the importance of unity, mutual respect, and peaceful engagement throughout the electoral process.

“Together, we can build a stronger voice for women’s leadership in the FCT,” the statement concluded.
Umar said as Nigeria continues to embrace inclusive governance, “the NCWS FCT reiterates its commitment to transparent, peaceful, and participatory elections that reflect the values of equity, representation and progress for all women.”
