President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the passing of Dr. Leon Usigbe, a journalist with The Tribune Newspapers and a member of the State House Press Corps.

In a statement by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga yesterday, Tinubu described Dr. Usigbe who was the Abuja Bureau Chief of Tribune Newspaper, as a veteran State House correspondent and professional whose dedication to truth, balance, and ethical journalism earned him the respect of colleagues, public officials and readers nationwide.

Similarly, the minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Dr. Usigbe, describing him as “a shining light within the Nigerian media landscape.”

In a statement, the minister said he received the news of Dr. Usigbe’s passing with “profound shock and deep sadness,” hailing the deceased as an outstanding journalist and patriot whose work was defined by integrity, insight, and a commitment to national development.

“Dr. Usigbe was an outstanding journalist, a highly cerebral professional, and a shining light within the Nigerian media landscape,” the Minister stated. “His work was defined by integrity, depth, and an unflinching determination to the public good,” he said.
