Nigeria’s first gold was won by Precious Oluwagbotemi Adekunle, who exhibited remarkable skill, speed, and tactical awareness to defeat her Egyptian opponent in the girls’ singles final.

Shortly thereafter, Edun David Damilare claimed Nigeria’s second gold in the boys’ singles, delivering a gritty and determined performance that earned him a hard-fought victory.

In the girls’ doubles final, the Adekunle sisters, Precious and Cynthia, put forth a strong showing but ultimately settled for a silver medal, adding to both their family’s and Nigeria’s medal tally.

In the mixed doubles final, Edun David partnered with Cynthia Adekunle, and the duo delivered an impressive performance that secured Team Nigeria another silver medal.

During the mixed team event, Ahmed Ayatulla and Masibau Faisat faced Tunisia in a closely contested semifinal. In the boys’ match, Ayatulla secured a 3-1 victory for Nigeria. However, in the girls’ match, Tunisia triumphed 3-0 over Faisat. In the doubles match, Tunisia edged Nigeria with a 3-1 win. The aggregate score of 2-1 in favour of Tunisia meant that Nigeria settled for the bronze medal in the mixed team category.

To date, Team Nigeria has amassed a total of eight medals across four sports, including two gold, four silver, and two bronze medals.

Team Nigeria will now turn its attention to athletics, which begins on Friday, 1st August.
