Two big industry players in the Nigerian entertainment, Film One Entertainment and Inkblot Studios have partnered to create Nollywood’s first streaming platform ‘KAVA’ set to unveil this August.
The platform will address the challenge of the underrepresentation of the world’s second largest film industry on global streaming platforms, as well as promote authentic and original stories that reflect the culture, identity and lived experiences of its people.
CEOs of KAVA, Chinaza Onuzo and Kene Okwuosa said the new platform combines cutting-edge technology with powerful purpose, offering more than entertainment, recognition, connection and a platform where African stories are seen, celebrated and preserved.
“We’ve built a world-class digital platform tailored to showcase the richness of Nollywood. For creators, it’s a new economy. One that truly champions and reflects who we are – as Africans, as artistes, and as a people,” said Onuzo.
“We are not just streaming films, we are building the digital infrastructure for the future of African cinema,” added Okwuosa.
KAVA will launch with over 30 premium Nollywood titles, in partnership with creators across Nigeria and the diaspora. It will also include post-theatrical releases, and a handpicked selection of Nigeria’s most iconic and compelling stories. There will be movies across several genres – drama, epic, romance, comedy, thriller etc., reflecting the rich range of African storytelling and spotlighting creators across Nigeria and the diaspora. The service can be accessed via mobile phone, tablets and smart
