The inspector general of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has reiterated the Force’s commitment to providing befitting welfare for its officers, saying no officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night.

The IGP stated this during the commissioning of 300 modern residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, an armoury, and a transport workshop, among other facilities, at the Bompai and Ungwan Uku police barracks in Kano.

He noted that the strength of the force should not only be measured by the calibre of arms but also by the conditions in which its officers live, work, and serve.

According to him, the projects are part of a nationwide blueprint of strategic transformation for a new era of modern policing grounded in human dignity.

“We are reconstructing the force from within, aligning operational excellence with emotional dignity, linking welfare to performance, and treating infrastructure not as cosmetic but as catalytic.

“That is why every building we commission, every barracks we rehabilitate, and every officer we empower is a step toward a stronger, safer, and more stable Nigeria,” he stated.

While appreciating President Bola Tinubu, the private sector partners and the families of the personnel for all their support, IGP Egbetokun charged the personnel to remain disciplined and professional as they carry out their daily duties.
