Obi who was on unscheduled visit to Bauchi, noted that the number one measure success of any nation is health, which cannot be measured without human structure.

Obi also visited the Intisharu Taufizul Qur’anic School in Yewa, Bauchi where he donated the sum of N5 million to support the children’s education.

He predicted that the world would be at the mercy of nurses in 2030, and commended the Malikiya students for undergoing the important course.

He told the nursing students, “We used to support what you are doing because it is good for the society. I go to about 60 – 70 nursing schools annually to support them”.

According to Obi, nurses are at the core of healthcare service delivery, especially in rural and underserved areas where doctors are often unavailable.

“The human infrastructure that drives health is not just about physical structures. At the very foundation are the nurses. The nurse is more important than the doctor. “The doctor comes between the nurse and the patient, but the nurse owns the patient. The nurse is everything,” Obi emphasised.

Commending the efforts of the college’s management, the former Anambra State governor thanked the proprietor of the school, Hon. Aminu Mohammed Danmaliki as well as the faculty for their commitment to training competent health professionals.

He stressed the need for improved support for nursing education and healthcare workforce development.

In his remarks, the Proprietor of the college, Hon. Danmaliki, expressed appreciation for Obi’s visit, describing it as an act of genuine leadership and national concern.

He assured that the donation would be used to expand the nursing programme and improve the quality of education offered by the college.

At the Qur’anic school, the 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate assured that he would encourage Qur’anic education in the North to make pupils better human being and to have the values of living in a good society.

“By living in a good society and incorporated to formal education, they would become scientists, doctors, and so forth,” he said.
