Obi who was on an unscheduled visit to Bauchi, noted that the number one measure of the success of any nation is health, which cannot be measured without a human structure.

Mr Obi who also visited the Intisharu Taufizul Qur’anic School in Yewa, Bauchi, on Friday where he donated N5 million to support children education, explained that the nurse is more important than the doctor.

He predicted that in 2030, the world would be at the mercy of nurses and commended the Malikiya students for undergoing an important course.

“We support what you are doing because it is good for the society. I go to about 60 – 70 nursing schools annually to support them,” he said.

According to Obi, nurses are at the core of healthcare service delivery, especially in rural and underserved areas where doctors are often unavailable.

“The human infrastructure that drives health is not just about physical structures. At the very foundation are the nurses. The nurse is more important than the doctor. The doctor comes between the nurse and the patient, but the nurse owns the patient. The nurse is everything,” Obi emphasised.

Commending the efforts of the college’s management, Obi thanked the proprietor, Aminu Mohammed Danmaliki and the faculty for their commitment to training competent health professionals.

The 2027 presidential hopeful stressed the need for improved support for nursing education and healthcare workforce development.

In his remarks, the proprietor of Malikiyya College, Hon. Danmaliki expressed appreciation for Obi’s surprise visit, describing it as an act of genuine leadership and national concern.

He assured that the donation would be used to expand the nursing programme and improve the quality of education offered by the college.

At the Qur’anic school, Obi assured that he would encourage Qur’anic education in the North to make pupils better citizens and to have the values of living in a good society.

He added that by living in a good society and incorporated to formal education, they would become scientists, doctors, among others.

Obi also held a talk session with the Forum of SUG President’s in Bauchi and paid a courtesy visit to the state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.
