In a tech industry where many Nigerian engineers are heading abroad, Virginus Alajekwu has taken a different route — building powerful digital tools at home.

Alajekwu is the founder of Afobata, a Nigerian technology company developing a multi-tenant SaaS platform that’s fast becoming a backbone for African businesses. The system provides everything from websites and mobile apps to payment systems, logistics tracking, e-commerce, and even healthcare scheduling — all from a single interface.

According to him, African entrepreneurs face unique challenges that global solutions often ignore we needs to bridges the gap between informal business practices and formal digital operations, while serving a largely unbanked population through mobile payments, he said.”

Afobata started as an e-commerce project but has grown into a full business operating system serving sectors like education, fintech, travel, and utilities. Its design allows thousands of companies to operate securely on shared infrastructure, scaling as they grow without costly migrations.

He said , ” Unlike many startups chasing quick publicity or heavy investment rounds, Alajekwu has focused on solving real business problems and growing organically through customer referrals. His approach has won Afobata users across Nigeria who rely on the platform daily, often without knowing the quiet engineer behind it, he added.”
