As Nigeria continues to explore new avenues for economic growth, the upcoming Gas Investment Forum (GIF) 2025 is positioned to become a pivotal event aimed at unlocking private investment in the country’s largely untapped gas sector.

Scheduled to take place on October 7–8, 2025, in Lagos, the forum will convene key industry stakeholders, policymakers, and global investors to discuss and identify strategic pathways towards mobilising private capital for expanding Nigeria’s gas infrastructure and industrial capacity.

Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Energy, Olubukola Arowolo Verheijen,  is set to deliver the keynote address as the chief host. Her leadership in driving transformational reforms in Nigeria’s energy sector perfectly aligns with the forum’s mission of attracting new investments to accelerate the “Decade of Gas” initiative.

The confirmed speaker lineup boasts influential figures, including Ed Ubong, coordinating director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat; NJ Ayuk, executive chairman of the African Energy Chamber; Akachukwu Nwokedi, president of the Nigeria Gas Association; Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, and Andrea Stegher, president of the International Gas Union.

The GIF 2025 is officially endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), ensuring a trusted platform for dialogue between government regulators and the private sector.

Forum organisers highlight that GIF 2025 will serve as a vital meeting point where investment opportunities, collaboration, and innovation can be explored to unlock Nigeria’s gas potential for sustainable industrial development, energy security, and regional integration.

Beyond the conference sessions, the event will feature a tradeshow allowing participants to showcase cutting-edge projects and solutions, fostering direct engagement with investors and partners.

According to Osaze Isesele, GIF event director, the forum is uniquely positioned to accelerate private capital flows into Nigeria’s gas sector. It will help translate the government’s monetisation policy into actionable business ventures that contribute to economic diversification and growth.

With Nigeria holding one of Africa’s largest yet underdeveloped natural gas reserves, the GIF 2025 is set to be the definitive platform to catalyse private sector involvement and propel the country’s energy-driven industrial revolution.

The organisers highlighted that GIF 2025 will provide a high-level platform for government leaders, global investors, and indigenous energy players to explore investment, collaboration, and innovation opportunities in Nigeria’s gas sector.

They further emphasised that the Forum offers unparalleled opportunities for cross-sector networking, strategic investment, and public-private collaboration, in line with West Africa’s ambition to leverage natural gas for sustainable development, energy security, and regional integration.

In addition to the main conference sessions, GIF 2025 will feature a vibrant tradeshow, allowing companies and project developers to showcase innovative solutions to local and international energy stakeholders.
