Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has said God will expose and shame those responsible for the brutal attacks and senseless killings by bandits in the state.
Governor Lawal on Wednesday visited survivors of the attacks in the Kaura Namoda local government area and to condole the families of 38 people killed by bandits in captivity recently.
He also visited other affected communities of Banga, Sakajiki, Kuryar Madaro, Maguru, and Tambarawa, all in the Kaura Namoda local government area.
During the visit, the governor offered his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and assured the residents of his commitment to ensuring their safety.
He condemned the recent wave of attacks by bandits, saying some enemies intentionally meant the violent acts to spread fear among communities.
“I visited Banga town to express my sympathy with the people regarding the recent bandit attack that occurred a few days ago.
“When the unfortunate incident occurred, I was not in the state. As soon as I received the news, I directed the deputy governor to lead a high-level delegation for a condolence visit.
“I returned to Gusau yesterday after the trip, and I felt an urge to make visiting the affected communities my top priority today.
“I want to reaffirm my administration’s commitment to increasing our efforts in the fight against banditry.
“May Allah expose and shame those responsible for these brutal attacks and senseless killings. I urge everyone to stay steadfast in prayer for an end to all forms of criminality in our dear state.”
The Emir of Kauran Namoda, Dr Sunusi Ahmad Rashad, who accompanied Lawal to the affected communities on behalf of the people of his Emirate, commended the governor’s efforts in responding promptly to security-related emergencies.
“These visits are very dear to the people of the affected communities and the Kauran Namoda local government area, and we are grateful. May Almighty continue to guide you,” he prayed.
The governor also pledged to enhance basic amenities like road networks, electricity, portable water, and mobile services in the affected communities.
