Bogoro Council To Partner Bauchi Assembly

Chairman of Bogoro local government area of Bauchi State, Hon. Yakubu Lawi Sumi, has pledged to partner with the State House of Assembly to ensure the effective implementation of government policies and programmes at the grassroots.

Sumi made the commitment during a visit by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to the Bogoro council secretariat. He expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for monitoring projects across the council and assured them of full cooperation.

According to the chairman, his leadership style is anchored on transparency, inclusive governance, and service delivery, stressing that all ongoing and completed projects are targeted at improving the welfare of residents and fostering sustainable growth.

He assured the visiting committee that all available resources would be judiciously utilised for development, while commending Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for supporting the council with funds and enabling people-oriented projects in Bogoro.

Highlighting some of his achievements within a short time in office, Sumi listed the rehabilitation of 99 boreholes, distribution of fertiliser to farmers, construction of a guest house, sponsorship of students in higher institutions, provision of 15 motorcycles for ward councillors and aides, purchase of two Peugeot 406 vehicles, renovation of the chairman’s residence, and the construction of shops at the livestock market, among others.

Speaking earlier, chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dan Bala Abdullahi, said the team was in Bogoro to monitor and supervise projects executed by both the state and the local government councils.

Represented by his deputy, Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Itas, he expressed satisfaction with the pace of development in Bogoro, noting that the Assembly was committed to ensuring accountability and efficiency in local governance.

During the visit, the lawmakers inspected several projects including the remodelled chairman’s official residence, an ongoing village head’s palace, the local government guest house, repaired culvert at Dutsen Lawan, and lock-up shops at Kalambu cattle market, among other state and council-funded projects.
