National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has affirmed its commitment to due process and accountability. It says it is aware of specific media publications making various comments regarding the commission, its operations and unverified allegations.

The commission, in a statement released yesterday by the Assistant Director of Information and Publication, Fatima Sanda Usara, said: “As a public institution established by law, NAHCON remains dedicated to its functions with the utmost sense of responsibility, honesty, accountability, and a commitment to delivering efficient services. This aligns with its mandate to serve Nigerian pilgrims and the nation effectively.”
Usara added, “As a responsible organisation, NAHCON maintains an open and ongoing relationship with all relevant government agencies, including anti-corruption and regulatory bodies.
This cooperation is a cornerstone of the Commission’s operations and underscores its belief in due process and the rule of law. The Commission will not shield any staff member or process found to be lacking.”

However, the Commission respectfully asks the public, particularly the media, to exercise restraint regarding speculation and allow the appropriate authorities to complete their work by established procedures. This will help prevent the potential indignity of subjecting perhaps innocent individuals to media trials. We are confident that the truth will emerge through the appropriate channels.

The Commission remains focused on conducting post-Hajj evaluations, addressing operational challenges, and strengthening measures to ensure improved service delivery in future Hajj operations.
