A subsidiary of Angola Cables, TelCables Nigeria, advocates widespread adoption of remote peering as a strategic solution to bolster digital connectivity across the continent, as Africa’s digital landscape continues to expand.
Speaking ahead of the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) 2025 in Lagos, Pre-Sales engineer at TelCables Nigeria, Israel Ogbo, underscored the importance of robust peering partnerships in reducing operational costs, improving service quality, and enabling broader access to digital services.
As Africa’s digital economy continues to expand, the demand for fast, reliable, and affordable access to online services and content has never been greater, Ogboi said.
He added, “Through our extensive backbone infrastructure and remote peering partnerships, TelCables has enabled service operators, businesses, and content providers to connect with multiple Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) across Africa and beyond. This allows operators to bypass expensive international transit routes, reduce latency, and enhance the customer experience.”
TelCables Nigeria leverages the global reach of the Angola Cables network to deliver scalable, low-latency connectivity to enterprises and service providers. In addition to its peering capabilities, the company offers a Network as a Service (NaaS) solutions that provide seamless access to vital digital tools from cloud applications and content platforms to e-commerce and financial services.
Ogboi noted that this offering is particularly impactful for African enterprises and consumers, who increasingly rely on digital platforms for economic activity and service delivery.
He said these solutions are essential to powering economic growth across the continent.
The upcoming AfPIF 2025 event is expected to gather top-tier stakeholders in the internet ecosystem, including ISPs, data centre operators, content delivery networks, and regional carriers, to explore strategies to enhance internet resilience, promote regional interconnectivity, and improve content access.
As an active participant, TelCables will share its experience in deploying successful peering and connectivity solutions and contribute to ongoing discussions about the future of Africa’s internet infrastructure.
AfPIF provides us with an excellent opportunity to engage with peers, partners, and stakeholders, collectively shaping Africa’s digital future. Our solutions, powered by Angola Cables’ global network, are transforming how businesses connect, scale, and thrive in the West African digital economy today,” Ogboi added.
