Team Lagbaja emerged champions of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 Polo Tournament after an impressive performance at the weekend.
The victory underscored the Nigerian Army’s commitment to promoting teamwork, resilience, discipline and esprit de corps as essential pillars of operational effectiveness.
The tournament formed one of the flagship sporting events organised to mark the 163rd anniversary of the Nigerian Army, highlighting the military’s emphasis on physical fitness, healthy competition and camaraderie.
According to the Army, these qualities are vital to building a professional, combat-ready force capable of responding effectively to contemporary security challenges.
Beyond the competition, the championship provided personnel with an opportunity to strengthen professional bonds, demonstrate leadership and reinforce the core values that underpin military excellence both on and off the field.
At the close of the tournament, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, presented the championship trophy to Team Lagbaja.
He commended all the participating teams for their discipline, determination and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The Nigerian Army said the NADCEL 2026 Polo Tournament reflects its holistic approach to developing a highly motivated, mission-focused force while fostering unity and excellence through sport.
