Adamawa State government through the state Relief and Post-Recovery Committee has approved relief items for people in the 15 local government areas affected by flood in the state.
The state deputy governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, who is the chairman of the committee, said the gesture followed a need assessment conducted in the affected councils.
Farauta said the approval and subsequent distribution is to provide succour to the affected flood victims in the affected LGAs.
She stressed that the relief committee is being replicated at the affected councils to be headed by vice chairmen to ensure even distribution of the relief intervention.
The deputy governor expressed optimism that before the end of the week all the affected LGAs would receive their consignments as uploading of the materials has since commenced at the state emergency office.
The committee also approved distribution of short term seeds for the remaining rainy season, while urging the people to relocate from the flood prone areas to safer lands as more flood is being expected in the state.
The recent flood affected, Fufore, Demsa, Numan, Gombi, Lamurde, Shelleng Jada and Ganye.
Other are Song, Girei, Yola-North, Guyuk, Mayo-belwa, Hong and Maiha.
However, there was no loss of life in the affected 15 LGAs and the quantum of damage is not severe compared to previous flood that killed 29 in the state.
