VP Shettima, Kebbi Gov, Others Bid Late Zuru Emir Farewell

The remains of the late Emir of Zuru, Major General Sani Sami (rtd) Gomo 11 were laid to rest yesterday at his personal residence in Zuru GRA, Zuru local government area of Kebbi State.

Thousands of sympathisers including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Emirs of Gwandu–Major General Iliyasu Bashar (rtd), Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammed Mera and Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi, governors of neighbouring states and top government officials from Kebbi and other states bid him farewell and prayed for his eternal rest.

The late monarch died last Saturday in a London hospital following a brief illness.
His body was brought in on Friday around 12:30 pm accompanied by Governor Idris and family members.
It was received by Vice Kashim Shattima who led the federal government delegation to the burial. Around 2:30pm after the Juma’at prayer as scheduled by the Zuru Council, the body was taken to the Zuru Central Mosque for the funeral rites performed by the chief imam of the mosque, Sheik Muhammed Suleiman.
Soon after, there was a military gun salute after which the body was taken round before being handed over for the burial around 4:15pm.

Shortly after, Vice President Kashim Shattima prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings and urged his family members, the Kebbi State government and people of Zuru Emirate to accept the death as an act of destiny.

He described the deceased as a peace loving emir who dedicated himself during his lifetime to bringing peace and unity not only to Zuru but to the entire nation.

Governor Nasir Idris said Kebbi State and the country had lost a father and benefactor who always offered meaningful advice and suggestions to governments for peace and progress.
