Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has conveyed his condolences to the Chief Medical Director of the Gombe State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Sambo Dawa and his family, over the demise of their mother, Mrs. Rebecca Jones Dawa, who passed away on Saturday, at the age of 71, after a prolonged illness.

Yahaya described the late Mrs. Dawa, a retired teacher and former Deputy Director in the Gombe State Ministry of Education, as a dedicated public servant committed to shaping minds and serving her community with honour and devotion.

“The death of Mrs. Rebecca Dawa is a painful loss, not only to her family but to the entire Billiri community and the education sector where she left a lasting legacy”, the Governor said.

He extended his sympathies to the Dawa family, the people of Billiri Local Government Area, and all those affected by her passing.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya prayed for eternal rest for the departed and God’s comfort for the bereaved family.

According to the family, the burial is scheduled for Friday, 28th August 2025, at the family residence in Billiri town.
