As crisis rocks the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, the leadership of the Ife Federal Constituency of the party has passed a vote of no confidence in the deputy governor of the state, Prince Kola Adewusi, and a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Prof. Wale Oladiipo.

But the state chapter of the party has nullified the action.

The leadership of the party in a release made available to newsmen in Osogbo yesterday and signed by 39 leaders, who included: the party state financial secretary, Prince Adesoji Adegoke, former member, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Ropo Oyewole, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, Sooko Sunday Adewale, among others, accused the deputy governor and alleged his co-travellers, including the PDP chairman, Ife East local government, Hon Olasunkanmi Makinde, of anti-party activities.

The statement read in part: “The party is dissatisfied with the actions and conduct of Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Member of the House of Representatives, who defected from the party with the mandate freely given to him by our people.

“That the leadership is equally disappointed by the continued fraternity of Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and the Ife East PDP Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), with Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, who has since defected from the party.

“In view of the above, which amount to anti-party activities and pose grave danger to the success of the party in Ifeland, the meeting hereby resolves as follows:

“A vote of no confidence is passed on, Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco)”

In a swift reaction, the state party chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Tuesday, ordered the status quo to remain, adding that the constituency should immediately suspend further actions capable of escalating the situation.

His statement read in part: “The attention of the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to a communiqué issued by some stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency on Monday, 1st September, 2025, wherein a vote of no confidence was purportedly passed on highly respected leaders of our great party.

“The state leadership of the PDP wishes to state the following: The party directs all members and stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency to immediately suspend further actions capable of escalating the situation. All concerned are hereby instructed to maintain the status quo in line with the conflict resolution mechanisms of our party.’’

The party contended that the affected persons remained critical pillars of the party, adding that any grievances directed at them must be channelled strictly through the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms, not through unilateral decisions.
