The Grinders Basketball Foundation has made a significant impact on the lives of over 50 student-athletes in Abuja through its successful “Back-to-School” programme, held over the weekend. The event, marking the seventh edition of the initiative, provided recipients from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions with vital educational resources, including cash donations, exercise books, school bags, and other learning materials.

Umar Abdullahi, Chairman of the Foundation, was represented by Provost Aliu Omeiza at the event, who highlighted the programme’s objective to uplift student-athletes in need. “The Foundation is dedicated to bringing joy to those who may require assistance, whether it be for school fees or essential academic materials. We have been committed to this cause for the past seven years and are excited to promise an even better and bigger event for our eighth edition,” Omeiza stated.

Alhassan Joseph Enbago, the Foundation’s Public Relations Officer, elaborated on the selection criteria for recipients. “The selection process involves referrals from individuals who are aware of athletes in need.

Some recipients are chosen directly by us, and we conduct follow-ups to ensure the resources provided are being used effectively. Our support doesn’t end here; we continue to assist them whenever possible,” Enbago explained.

The beneficiaries of the programme expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support received from the Grinders Basketball Foundation, emphasising the positive impact it has had on their educational journeys.
