The police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, said the feats were achieved by the operatives’ quick response to emergency situations, based on volunteered intelligence.

She said, “On September 2, 2025, at approximately 0012 hours, the command’s operatives received a distress call reporting an attempted armed robbery in Abiakpo Ntak Inyang village, Ikot Ekpene LGA.

“The report, received from a concerned citizen, stated that two residents (names withheld) were under attack by two armed individuals wielding a jackknife and a machete.

“A police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene. The officers apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Ubong Victor Elijah, a native of Ikwen village in Obot Akara LGA, who resides in Ikot Obong Edong village.

“The second suspect, known only as Wisdom, fled the scene and remains at large. During the arrest, a black face mask and two jackknives were recovered. The victims, who sustained multiple stab wounds, were rushed to the hospital for medical attention,” the police mouthpiece said yesterday.

Similarly, operatives apprehended a suspected car thief with assorted motor spare parts of dismantled vehicles.

John said, “On Monday, August 26, 2025, at 11:00 am, operatives, while on routine patrol along Abak Road in Uyo, intercepted a Toyota Corolla with registration number BRS 03 AJ.

“The driver, identified as Ugochukwu Igwe, was stopped and a search of the vehicle was conducted. This led to the recovery of several suspected stolen items, including: two truck batteries, seven motor batteries, several pieces of motor catalysts, a motor condenser and an alternator. Other valuable properties were also recovered from the vehicle,” she stated.

John, therefore, solicited public intelligence to curb crimes in the state, adding that the suspects were held in a police facility to face prosecution.
