Yobe Health Workers Get New Wage Package As Buni Approves CONMESS, CONHESS

In a move to improve the welfare of health professionals and strengthen the state’s healthcare system, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the immediate implementation of the new wage structures under the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).

The approval, conveyed in a circular dated September 2, 2025, and signed by the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, directed that the new salary tables take effect from August 17, 2025.

The new package covers medical doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals on the state payroll, reaffirming the government’s commitment to better working conditions, higher morale, and stronger health service delivery.

Stakeholders have hailed the development as a bold and compassionate step that will not only enhance the livelihood of health workers but also boost service delivery across hospitals and primary healthcare facilities in Yobe.

The initiative is expected to motivate staff, reduce brain drain, and ensure continued access to quality healthcare services for the people of the state.

In a related development, the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Yobe State chapter, has has commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for approving the revised salary scale Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) that included veterinary doctors in the state.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the association, Dr. Bulama Maina Yaro, the veterinary doctors described the Governor’s decision as a landmark step that reflects his unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare, fairness in the civil service, and sustainable socioeconomic development.

According to the NVMA, the approval will not only boost the morale of veterinary professionals but also enhance livestock productivity, strengthen food security, and contribute to the overall economic growth of Yobe State.

“This commendable decision has once again demonstrated the exemplary leadership, foresight, and dedication of His Excellency to the progress of our dear state. I

“It aligns with our professional mandate and your well-thought-out vision for Yobe,” the statement read.

The Association prayed for Allah to continue granting Governor Buni wisdom, good health, and strength to sustain the delivery of people-oriented policies that will further uplift the lives of the people of Yobe State.
