The police public relations officer, DSP TImfon John, who disclosed this yesterday at the state headquarters, Ikot Akpanabia, near Uyo, the state capital, said the arrest of the suspect with arms and charms was achieved during a stop -and – search operation by officers and men of the command.

“At approximately 4:55am of September 6, 2025, a surveillance team on an intensive stop-and-search operation at the Nung Oku roundabout, located by Ring Road 3, Uyo, successfully apprehended a suspect.

“The individual, identified as Kufre Aniefiok Akpan, from Nkim village, Itam, in Itu LGA, was subjected to a search. The search led to the recovery of a cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun, two live cartridges, and various items suspected to be charms.”

“During interrogation, Akpan confessed to being an active member of the ‘Sky Low’ secret cult.”

Investigations, the Police spokesperson, said, were ongoing with a view to ascertaining whether Akpan acted alone or in group, assuring no stone would be left unturned in apprehending other gang members.
